Lincoln Road, synonymous with outdoor shopping, dining, and cultural vibrancy in the heart of Miami Beach, proudly announces the debut of “PRIDE247,” a striking public art installation paying homage to Miami Beach Pride. This monumental display, on view from April 4 through June 30, showcases the artistic ingenuity of AMLgMATD, the dynamic collaboration between Laz Ojalde and Natalie Zlamalova.
Celebrating Miami Beach Pride: Miami Beach Pride serves as a beacon of unity and celebration, bringing together individuals from the LGBTQ+ community, along with their allies and supporters, to commemorate the diversity and resilience of queer culture. In tribute to this annual event, Lincoln Road unveils “PRIDE247,” a vibrant expression of solidarity and inclusivity.
Artistic Vision of “PRIDE247”: “PRIDE247” reimagines the iconic LGBTQ pride flag, infusing it with fresh creativity and symbolic depth. AMLgMATD’s innovative approach transforms the familiar rainbow flag into a dynamic installation, weaving individual polypropylene webbing straps through the palm trees of Lincoln Road’s Euclid Oval. This imaginative reinterpretation serves as a visual metaphor for the interconnectedness of individuals within society, emphasizing unity amidst diversity.
Special Features of the Installation: In addition to the striking display at Euclid Oval, “PRIDE247” extends its vibrant presence to Lincoln Road’s entry points on Washington Ave. and Alton Road. Colorful textile sleeves adorn the planters, reflecting the pride progressive flag and infusing the district with an atmosphere of celebration and acceptance.
Creators’ Message: According to Laz Ojalde and Natalie Zlamalova, the visionaries behind AMLgMATD, “PRIDE247” embodies the essence of connectivity and resilience. By deconstructing and reconstructing the pride flag, the installation invites viewers to contemplate the multifaceted nature of society and the power of collective identity.
Unveiling and Celebration: Lincoln Road invites the community to join in the celebration of Miami Beach Pride and the unveiling of “PRIDE247” during a special event on June 21 at 7:30 p.m. The evening will also feature “Pride Lights the Night,” an annual lighting ceremony honoring the memory of the Pulse Nightclub and Club Q shootings. This free public event promises an evening of solidarity, remembrance, and celebration.
