Miami International Dragon Boat Race 8:00AM – 5:00PM
Virginia Key waters will be awash with 42-foot dragon-shaped canoes this Saturday for the Miami International Dragon Boat Festival. The races recognize more than 2,000 years of Chinese history as they blend folk tradition with modern recreational sport and community engagement. According to ancient Chinese mythology, the dragon signifies control over rain, rivers, and seawater; therefore, a dragon’s head and tail were considered the mightiest addition to any rowing boat.
